The close-up image of the man’s crotch was posted earlier yesterday in A Fleet, a temporary tweet that disappears after 24 hours and cannot be shared, replied publicly, or embed on other pages.

A spokesperson for the Walking In The Air singer told MailOnline that his Twitter account had been hacked and the fleet had been taken down.

Earlier he tweeted: ‘I got hacked, sorry everyone! Damn’. Later he told his over 62,000 followers: ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know (sic) this what a fleet – I’ve never heard of it! ”

The Twitter Fleets feature rolled out last year is similar to Snapchat, Instagram Stories, and WhatsApp’s “Endangered Posts”, giving users the ability to create posts that automatically disappear afterwards.

A person’s account fleets appear at the top of their timeline, much like the stories at the top of Instagram’s landing page.

Mr Jones was suspended from the BBC in October 2017 following allegations of inappropriate behavior by a colleague.

At the time, the Songs Of Praise host admitted to pursuing “juvenile” behavior, but denied any inappropriate contact and apologized for any “injury” caused. He was allowed to return to the broadcaster a few months later.

The former altar boy, received an MBE in 2013 for his services to music and broadcasting. He became a radio host after signing up for Classic FM in 2002 and then presented a Sunday morning show for the BBC.

The BBC has been approached for comment.
