ARMIDALE’s reputation as a leader in medical manufacturing was strengthened, with $ 500,000 earmarked for a new local plant. Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall announced the state government grant to help Forte Healthcare Solutions build a new production facility for its expanding line of medical mattresses. The Armidale plant will provide the company with much-needed space to install new production equipment and a dedicated medical mattress manufacturing line. READ ALSO: “Manufacturing at Armidale is booming, with products made here in the city now serving domestic and international markets,” said Mr. Marshall. “Forte Healthcare is one of those companies that is doing innovative things and this new facility will allow it to increase the production of mattresses for specialized medical use by 150%. The expansion is accompanied by 25 new sustainable jobs for the local region, strengthening career opportunities in the sector. Forté Healthcare has seen strong demand for its specialty medical mattresses, all manufactured at its Armidale plant. With the increase in production at the local facility, Mr. Marshall saod Forte Healthcare was looking to expand into the export market, which will see high performance medical mattresses, designed in Australia and manufactured by Armidale, exported for be used worldwide. “The current COVID pandemic has underscored how crucial it is that we continue to invest in medical manufacturing capabilities in Australia to support our health systems in times of crisis,” Marshall said. Eligible businesses can apply for grants to purchase new equipment, expand facilities, acquire technology, create new production lines, or establish businesses in the NSW area.
