Love grows in downtown Bad Axe.

Specifically, Lisa’s Love Boutique & Studio is growing from its original home on Pigeon Road in West Elkton to the south side of Huron Avenue near the intersection with Port Crescent Street.

Owner Lisa Csanyi said her new location at 144 E. Huron Ave., the former home of Green Clean Bean Coffee and Laundry, offers more than double the space of her old location and, more importantly, offers a large seating area stocked with tables and chairs for hosting events like bachelorette parties, adult bingo, and treasure hunts. Bingo is scheduled for Thursday, July 28 at 6:30 p.m.

The store offers men’s and women’s items ranging from bath, beauty, massage, lingerie in sizes small to 5X, as well as humorous and romantic “relationship-enhancing” items, but special events are what which excites Csanyi the most. She’s also looking forward to being more centrally located in a city center she described as “walkable.”

“I was getting (clients) from the west side (of the county) but no one from the east side,” she said.

She added that her regular customers have followed Bad Ax and that she’s been pleased with how busy the store has been since her move.

The shop also offers what is called “boudoir photography”, a photo shoot in which women pose (always fully clothed) wearing provocative outfits or lingerie.

The Bad Ax shop opened on July 11 and Csanyi is putting the finishing touches on her shop, which she described as a non-judgmental place where all adults are welcome (persons under 18, please pleases) and where women can come and feel good about themselves and feel empowered by having romantic photos taken to gift the special someone in their life.

“Judgment, discrimination and bigotry – none of that is allowed here,” she said. “It’s supposed to be a loving place. Our motto is, ‘Love grows here.'”

Csanyi is fully invested in her new business, having purchased the building and joined the Chamber of Commerce. She assured city officials that her storefront would be discreetly decorated and that families with children could be sure they wouldn’t see anything inappropriate if they drove down Huron Avenue.

“Young eyes can’t see it,” she said. “I wanted to be sure to protect the children.”
