MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Like many these days, Lisa Denicourt works from home. Long Lake’s mom works in operations for a sportswear company.
A few years ago, doing your job became quite a task.

“It was just before I turned 45, I realized I was squinting more at reading the fine print,” she said. “It was starting to get harder and harder for me to read. “
So she quickly realized that she would have to start accessorizing in a way she wasn’t quite ready for.
“I have reading glasses all over the house, there’s probably one here, one in the other room, one in my office, I mean they’re everywhere.”
So when she heard an ad on the radio about eye drops that might help you quit readers, she focused on the laser.
Dr Y. Ralph Chu hosted a clinical trial in his Bloomington office for Vuity – eye drops that correct age-related hyperopia.
“This is one of the most exciting developments in ophthalmology in 20 years,” said Chu. He added, explaining the basic condition: “What happens when we are 45, it’s called presbyopia, is the natural aging process of the eye where the lens of the eye becomes stiffer. with age.”

Lisa is one of 125 million Americans with the condition, so she participated in Chu’s Corrective Eye Drops trial.
“It was obvious that I was not in the placebo group because I could really see the difference in the use of the eye drops,” she said.
Chu explained, “It works as fast as 15 minutes and can last up to six hours. It’s as simple as once a day take this drop, they can take it in the morning, and they don’t have to wear reading glasses all day.
As of this week Vuity, which uses a variant glaucoma drug to modulate pupil size and optimize vision, was recently approved by the FDA for ages 40-55.
Denicourt is thrilled to get a prescription – and get rid of – of her additional readers.
“Knowing that I don’t have to remember them anymore is going to be fantastic,” she said.
The drops should be available in about two months. They will need a prescription from an eye care provider.
