It’s almost that moment again. The children will soon start returning to school in Lubbock and we hope it will be a somewhat normal year where most if not all of the teaching is done face to face and in a classroom setting.

It also means we’ll start to see more sales, fundraising, and back-to-school campaigns.

Lubbock City Health Department Region 1 Prevention Resource Center group and Hub City Awareness Center are teaming up for a back-to-school hygiene campaign for Lubbock students. Hygiene items you wish to donate can be dropped off at the City of Lubbock Health Department located at 806 18th Street. Items can be dropped off Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Those dropping off items are asked to use the main entrance overlooking 18th Street.

The last day to drop off items for the back-to-school hygiene campaign will be Friday, August 13. This is because on Saturday August 14, hygiene bags will be distributed at the Lubbock Dream Center during the Back to School Bash which starts at 9 a.m.

If you know someone or have kids in Kindergarten to Grade 8 who need a backpack or school supplies, you can sign up for the Lubbock Dream Center here.

The Lubbock health service reminds citizens to only leave unused and unopened products in their original packaging. Here are some examples of necessary hygiene products:

Items needed to fill sanitary bags include:

  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Body soap
  • Hand soap
  • Toilet paper
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Disinfectant spray / Disinfectant wipes
  • Face wipes / Makeup wipes
  • Feminine products
