Houston climbs rankings after 54-42 USF win

HOUSTON – After its strong performance Saturday in Tampa, Fla., Houston Football rose to 17th in the USA Today Coaching Poll and the AP Top 25 in Sunday’s latest rankings.

The Cougars (8-1 overall, 6-0 The American), fresh off a 54-42 win at USF, lead an eight-game winning streak, their longest since 2015-16, and have a 6-0 record in conference for the fifth time in school history with the latest coming in 2015.

Sunday’s Top 25 AP marks the first time the Cougars have been ranked for straight weeks since the 2016 season. Sunday marks Houston’s 196th overall appearance in the AP poll.

Houston can clinch a berth in the American Athletic Conference Championship on Dec. 4 with a victory Saturday at Temple. Kick-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. CT on ESPN + and KPRC 950 AM. The Cougars are 6-1 against the Owls.


Tickets go on sale for the Houston Football regular season home final against Memphis on Friday, November 19. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Seats are available for as little as $ 20. Fans are encouraged to wear red and arrive early as the program honors its senior class.
